  • Workers at the Starbucks on 115 W. Rand Road in Arlington Heights voted 11-3 to join Starbucks Workers United, and 20 full-time and part-time baristas and shift supervisors will join a bargaining unit pending certification—negotiations with the company will resume with a mediator present.  The Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wheeling Township's current board did not enact the 708 Referendum approved by voters in 2022 to boost support for mental health, disabilities and addiction — prompting calls for a change in leadership. Residents are urged to vote by April 1 for the Progress for Wheeling Township slate including Maria Zeller Brauer, John Geier, Lorri Grainawi, Austin Mejdrich and Sheri Williams.  Daily Herald
  • Tom Hayes, who served on the Arlington Heights Village Board for 34 years including 12 as president—since his first election in 1991—said the upcoming April 1 election will produce the biggest turnover, and he urged residents to vote for Jim Tinaglia for Mayor and for trustees Jim Bertucci, Colin Gilbert, Argie Karafotias and Greg Zyck to keep the community strong.   Daily Herald
