Metra and Pace held board meetings on Sept.
17 and said they will raise fares if state bailout funds do not come through—Metra’s fiscal cliff is delayed until the fourth quarter of 2026 while Pace’s is pushed to early 2027. Both agencies will release draft budgets in October as higher sales tax revenues and internal savings help stretch federal funds.
