Good morning, Arlington Heights. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 16th of September.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Union Pacific sued Metra on Sept 9—alleging that the commuter rail agency underpaid for using its tracks since July 1 after a federal board granted terminal trackage rights for lines serving Arlington Heights, Palatine, Mount Prospect, Des Plaines and Park Ridge. The suit asks the court to confirm the binding nature of a payment agreement and seeks $2,287,529.89 plus interest.  Journal & Topics Media Group
  • Pace uses paired routes that let riders stay on one bus as the number changes when it reaches key stops; Route 209 becomes Route 234 at the Des Plaines Metra station and then switches back, giving a one-seat ride to commuters in Arlington Heights and nearby towns—schedules note these connections clearly.  Journal & Topics Media Group
  • Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed an executive order last week to protect vaccine access by launching the Statewide Vaccine Access Initiative led by the Illinois Department of Public Health — the order also directs pharmacies and clinics to offer vaccines and calls on local health departments to provide simple vaccine guidance.  CBS News Chicago

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jameson Taillon gave up two hits in six innings — the Cubs beat the Pirates 4-0 on Monday night as Michael Busch and Pete Crow-Armstrong hit home runs to push Chicago closer to the playoffs. The win put the Cubs ahead in the wild card race and marked their fifth win in six games.  CBS News Chicago
