- ➤ On Sunday, Sept. 28, local nonprofit FamilyForward will host its annual fundraiser 'Giving Hope: Home for the Harvest' at Cotillion Banquets — 360 S. Creekside Drive in Palatine from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will feature music, food, and activities to raise at least $100K for families facing rising housing and living costs and will encourage donations of nonperishable food items for a local food pantry. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ The small shop in the downtown train station will soon become a café after owner Dilip Patel requested an early lease termination—allowing the new business Sip & Bite to take over the location. The lease began in January 2021 and was set to expire on December 31. Journal & Topics Media Group

- ➤ A federal appeals court upheld Illinois’ law banning concealed carry on public transit yesterday, ruling it did not violate the Second Amendment. Judge Joshua Kolar said the decision aligns the rule with limits in sensitive places—like schools and courthouses. CBS News Chicago

- ➤ Saint Viator student-athletes signed college commitment letters last winter and spring to join college sports programs and said the school helped them work hard in class and on the field.
