  • Tiffany Gates was named as the new executive director of Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in downtown Arlington Heights—officials announced Tuesday. She brings 20 years of experience from roles including interim executive director and education director and will now lead operations and community outreach.  Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Village of Arlington Heights delayed the detour for westbound Euclid Avenue water main construction, and it began on August 27 instead of August 11, affecting traffic from Dryden Avenue to Arlington Heights Road while not mentioning that closures extend farther west. Officials found that inadequate signs on Arlington Heights Road may have confused drivers—recorded observations point to missing left-turn restrictions.  The Cardinal

  • St. Viator beat Grayslake Central 52-0 in its first girls flag football game on August 27. The defense made 8 interceptions—4 returned for touchdowns while the offense scored 8 touchdowns.  Journal & Topics Media Group
  • On Tuesday, Sept. 2 in Arlington Heights, Barrington edged Hersey in a tight girls volleyball match under the new Mid-Suburban League format. Barrington rallied from a 10-5 third set deficit + key plays from Jaelyn Connole helped secure a 25-23, 16-25, 25-22 win.  Daily Herald
