EDUCATION NEWS

  • Northwest Suburban High School District 214 signed a six-year contract with Power Ad Co.—a firm from Franklin, Ohio—to secure corporate sponsorships and naming rights at football fields and gymnasiums. The agreement could generate up to $275,000 a year to help offset $900 million in renovation costs as board members review its impact.  The Daily Herald
  • Harper College recently celebrated its 2025-26 Community Impact Fund Grants by awarding nearly $50,000 to six local nonprofits that support literacy, housing, youth mentoring, and inclusive theater. The program launched in 2022 and was partly funded by an $18 million gift from MacKenzie Scott + it has aided over 2,200 community members through critical support services.  Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Registration for the Arlington Heights Citizen Police Academy is now open and the free 10-week program will offer hands-on police experience to residents and business leaders; classes will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 23 through Dec. 2, except Nov. 25—spots are limited to 25 students per session.  Daily Herald
  • Gov. Pritzker defended the Bears plan to relocate to Arlington Heights if the privately owned team chooses to move — saying taxpayers should not help fund a project worth over $8 billion. He made his remarks at Wheeling Township Elementary School District 21 — where he promoted childhood vaccinations and noted that the stadium plan depends on a long-term tax break from state lawmakers.  Daily Herald
  • A detour began on Monday, August 11—affecting westbound Euclid Avenue from Dryden Avenue to Arlington Heights Road because of a water main improvement project—and it will stay in effect for about four weeks.  The Cardinal
