Illinois will offer a back-to-school sales tax holiday from Friday, Aug.
7 until Sunday, Aug. 16 that will lower tax on approved school supplies like uniforms, sneakers, and backpacks. Gov. JB Pritzker held a 10 a.m. news conference on Monday (Aug. 3) where he outlined the tax break for families.

On Sunday night, the Cubs acquired pitcher Kevin Gausman (35) from the Blue Jays in a trade that sent minor leaguers Ty Southisene and Brett Bateman, adding playoff experience to bolster their injured rotation before Monday’s deadline.
