- ➤ A giant blue Adirondack chair is traveling across Arlington Heights as part of the Park District’s 100th anniversary celebration — residents can take photos with the chair as it moves to a new park each week. It will arrive at Klehm Park today — the centennial festivities will continue through May. Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arlington Heights board members debated a rule to ban overnight sleeping on public property at a meeting on Monday—complaints from condo owners and concerns from homelessness advocates drove the talk, and the board tabled the discussion until Aug. 11. Some trustees worry the rule may hurt those in need while others say it will help keep public areas safe. Daily Herald
- ➤ Cook County was named one of the nation’s most digitally advanced counties for six consecutive years, ranking eighth among counties with populations over 1 million. County board President Toni Preckwinkle said the county’s technology improvements—multilingual website translation, improved courthouse Wi‑Fi access and an integrated payment system—helped boost cybersecurity and service delivery.
