  • On Monday, village officials approved a zoning change for Chez Hotel to open its new 3,670-square-foot rooftop restaurant and lounge with indoor and outdoor seating, operating from 4 to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. to midnight on weekends. The hotel will use 171 parking spaces with off-site deals and follow event restrictions to prevent traffic or safety issues—village officials warned the permission could be revoked if problems arise.  Daily Herald

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcyclist died early this morning on Route 53 near Rand Road after colliding with a dump truck—Illinois State Police said the crash occurred just before 1:30 a.m. and that Route 53 was closed for nearly six hours before reopening.  The Daily Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local musician Martin Burns from Arlington Heights and his fellow John Hersey High School peers Gabrielle Venegas and Faith Lee spent two weeks in Door County studying Percussion, Steel Pan and World Music at Birch Creek Music Performance Center. The academy—celebrating its 50th concert season—offered 18 top students intensive instruction and seven concerts under expert mentors including Dr. Dan Moore.  Daily Herald
