  • Fire hydrant painting is underway in Arlington Heights as 296 hydrants receive a gray or white primer before getting their traditional red finish—weather permitting work is expected to take roughly one month. The project helps extend hydrant longevity and improve visibility.  Daily Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights revives — Dear Jack, Dear Louise — a World War II-set play with previews at 7:30 p.m. on July 24 and 25 and at 2 p.m. on July 26 at 111 W. Campbell St., and the performance officially opens at 7:30 p.m. on July 26 with tickets ranging from $25 to $49.  Daily Herald
  • The Illinois Brass Band will play a free summer concert on the west lawn of First United Methodist Church at 1903 E. Euclid Ave on Sunday, July 27 at 3 p.m.—30 band members will perform classical, patriotic, and Broadway favorites—and will move indoors if bad weather comes.  Daily Herald

  • Soldier Field sent an online survey late last week to people who attended Bears games to ask about ticket prices and if they would visit a bar after games.
