  • On Friday, June 20, Arlington Heights police responded at about 1:45 p.m. to a call that a dog had been left in a hot car with the windows opened only about one-quarter inch at Trader Joe’s located at 17 West Rand Road in the Annex, and the driver left before police arrived—police identified the vehicle owner and plan to issue a warning on pet safety during hot weather.  The Cardinal

  • Today, the National Weather Service issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Cook County including Chicago from 10 a.m. until 12 a.m. Tuesday as a heat dome is expected to push the heat index above 100 for three consecutive days. Many nearby counties are under a Heat Advisory or Watch—residents are urged to use cooling centers and check on vulnerable neighbors.  CBS News Chicago
