Good morning, Arlington Heights.
🚨 Crime
Police responded just after 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 to reports of an assault and battery on a Metra train at Arlington Park when a suspect (a white male approximately 5ft 6in to 5ft 7in wearing a tie dye shirt and baseball hat) allegedly attacked a passenger, abandoned his belongings, and fled north on Northwest Highway while a K-9 search in Palatine ended at 8 p.m. without locating him, causing delays in train service.
🏥 Health
Data from coroners & the Illinois Department of Public Health show fatal drug overdoses in the Chicago area dropped 24.6% from 2023 to 2024, with Cook County’s deaths falling 25.3% and DuPage County’s decreasing nearly 40%.
Local health experts caution that nonfatal overdoses remain high and funding cuts along with designer drugs may put these gains at risk.
