EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Maine Township High School District 207 board approved new novels for English classes and the first digital World History text reading during their May 5 meeting for next school year—totaling $13,200 in new materials. Assistant Supt. of Curriculum and Innovation noted that the digital text will be updated frequently to keep up with changes over time. Journal & Topics Media Group
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Work begins this week on the Euclid Ave Water Main Replacement and Utility project in Arlington Heights. The project extends along Euclid Avenue from just east of Northwest Highway (Route 14) to Waterman Avenue and will run through late October; drivers are asked to use alternate routes. Daily Herald
- ➤ Officials at the Arlington Heights Park District said the department will launch a $32 million refresh of Recreation Park with phase one opening on June 9, adding an accessible playground, new tennis courts, and picnic shelters while keeping the annual Frontier Days festival from July 2-6 unaffected. Further work on restoring the historic field house and updating the pool will begin after the festival — with completion expected in 2026. Daily Herald
