Jewish families from the Northwest Suburbs met on Sunday at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum for The Great Matzah Bake-Off.
Hosted by the Chabad Jewish Center of Arlington Heights, participants (including Eduard Goldstein and his children) made matzo from scratch as they prepared for Passover, which runs from April 12 to April 20.

Arlington Heights Village Manager Randy Recklaus said that the Illinois Department of Revenue put measures in effect—after nearly $1 million in tax revenue from Cooper’s Hawk restaurant was misallocated to Rolling Meadows—and that only $109,000 was recovered in March while $1.1 million remains lost from 2011 to early 2020. The Illinois Supreme Court ruled that the department has exclusive authority over tax matters, leaving the Village without a way to recover the remaining revenue.
