- ➤ Amazon announced Tuesday that it will close 10 brick-and-mortar food stores, including the one at 325 E. Palatine Rd. in Arlington Heights; some locations may later be converted into Whole Foods Market stores. Journal & Topics Media Group

- ➤ Six Journal-area dance teams will compete in the state series at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington Jan. 30-31 + Maine West reached state for the first time after finishing runner-up in the Class 2A division on Jan. 24. Journal & Topics Media Group
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 981 is accepting applications for two scholarship grants of $3,000 each. One grant honors Korean War veteran Wally Luettschwager + the other is funded by the family of Bob Henderson, with awards set for May 2026 and applications due by March. Journal & Topics Media Group
- ➤ Maine West High School will replace its natural grass with a light blue artificial turf this summer to mirror its traditional colors — blue, gold, and white. Administrators will recommend the change at the board meeting on Feb. 2 with an estimated cost of $3.5 million. Journal & Topics Media Group

- ➤ Arbor House, an eight-story mixed-use project at 25 W. Algonquin Rd—adding 300 residential units—is set to display extra signage approved by the town board to boost its visibility as the southern gateway to Arlington Heights. Journal & Topics Media Group
